Stoop Chronicle 1
Whitney slides off the ledge next to me, we are having our third stoop sale in 3 days. Minimal profits yet we are hopeful, "Im going to make margaritas," as the door shuts behind her. I look up to see Harry sitting behind the tree where he resides everyday selling, stealing and slopping back malt beverages. One after another, the Solo is always half full. A middle schooler in jean cut-offs and a book bag walks by, he is on a cell telling some likely similar looking adolescent about the posse he kicks it with on the weekends. Consisting of himself and two young girls trying too hard wearing their mom's lipstick. Rob taps me on the shoulder, "Im having a warehouse party in the city," he passes me a flyer as he trots down the stoop into the street. "you should come" A rather flamboyant fellow is dancing in the back as Rob drives off. 20$ for a rave trance dance till 8am party is not in my budget. No work tomorrow so if I get a free pass to the labor day dancefest I might attend. Whitney hands me a margarita and i realize its getting cold.

6 Months... Too many Jobs.
I decided to move to the city when I was about 10 years old. I can't remember my first visit like it was yesterday but I can recall the feeling in my stomach. It has probably been the only thing in my life I have been sure of for that long! I am typically a very indecisive person except when it comes to New York City.
When I was 10
I did not understand how the economy worked and truthfully most people still don't. It is like a h
uge equation with a million different variables changing by the moment. So, I give up trying to analyze why we have a "bad" economy. All the theories in the world are not going to make it easier for me to get job I want.
Caroline's Job search and experience thus far....
I moved here knowing I had wor
k as a nanny, which I am still currently doing on occasion. Then, I did some
production assistant work on TV shows; Rescue Me
, The Unusuals, Movie and a Makeover and Lights Out. Somewhere during that time I tried to be a bartender... I had a three month internship at a company called TheKnot.com where I assisted 3 PR girls. I would organize props for the TV segments, go shopping!!, update celebrity baby/wedding databases and other small daily task's. It was a great internship!
My first week we held a baby shower in a loft where we drank banana coladas... and this is why they are on a hiring freeze. The best jobs are hard to find.
Now, I still nanny and plan to start assisting Hava Beller, a women who makes documentaries. I also have a job interview on Wednesday for a position at an internet based company. This position is not exactly what I had in mind when moving to a city filled with art galleries, fashion houses and music venues, but should be good experience. Plus, this one might actually pay me more than a lunch stipend.

The Purpose of My Blog, "Caroline in the City"
This blog is not worth blogging. I started and ended in the same day so when my roommate Mollie told me she started a blog yesterday I was reMotivated. Probably more so because I saw that her blog was far more outstanding and I was envious.
Blog #2 : Things I have experienced in NYC.
- Walking down the street and almost having a death by christmas tree because it was thrown out the 3rd story window only to land right in front of me. lights still attached. Also the first time i realized how lazy New Yorkers were bc everything one needs is likely across the street.
- Having very long and deep conversations on the subway with the oddest creatures on this furry planet. A man who wanted me to join his Star Wars club in Midtown. I still have his Star Wars business card.
Vagabonder named Chris who insisted on shaking my hand after we discussed his traveling folk band and how Hank Williams would be proud. A hand which no doubt was used as a toothbrush, fork, toilet paper and comb.
- I have become increasingly paranoid as the days tick on in the concrete jungle festering with criminals (i.e. below)
- After buying peanut butter and rice cakes I bent down to look at the dried pineapple prices only to stand up and see the white bag in which the items I had just purchased were in, was missing.
My puerto rican co-customer ladies and I, ran outside trying to chase down the guy with the white bag. Yes, my rice cakes inside. Gone.... my angry puerto rican ladies were giving me their condolences as I returned to the cashier spitting out some words of sass for letting someone steal my breakfast/lunch/dinner! He informed me that my bag of items was right in front of me.
I believe I will cheat off Mollie's idea and use my blog as a way to let people or more specifically my mom know what I am experiencing in the city as I try to reach my goal of stardom in a field not yet decided. "Caroline in the City"

Blogging?
Hi.
I guess I should write on this like a diary? Im don't know, but I do know that I don't want anyone to actually read a thing I write in there... so Im not sure how to treat a blog. Sharing your ideas with people who spend too much time at a computer. odd.
I was forced to blog at my work and realized there was this whole subculture of people talking about just about everything you could think of, so that has brought me here. Curious to see what blogging can do for me, probably nothing... and this might even be my only blog but I can at least die knowing I tried.
The only thing interesting to say right now is that I have a Jack Russell snoring next to me and the man who plays Jason Mraz selling his own belongings right outside my window has passed out.
